As We Start the Year...

Take a few minutes to reflect upon your experiences/expectations thus far and respond answering the following questions for me and your fellow classmates, please:

1. What are your fears about AP Euro this year? Hopes? ("Failing" is not an acceptable answer)
2. What do you hope to gain from this course?
3. What areas of European History are you familiar with?
4. What specifically are you looking forward to learning about?

Please respond in a paragraph. Make certain that you sign your post with your first and last name. You may comment as a guest or create an account, it's up to you, but MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON YOUR POST so I can give credit! All responses are due by 10:00 p.m. on Monday, September 3rd (Labor Day).

Make sure you read through your classmates comments as well and feel free to comment constructively and encourage. This blog is your class forum-- don't be afraid to use it! :) I look forward to your responses!

My fears of AP this year are not understanding the information as fast as everyone else. I don't want to be set back and behind.
I hope to gain knowledge of the European world and get a college credit!
I am familiar with the Iliad and the Odyssey and Odysseus. I had read both of them when I was younger. I also know a little about greek mythology and the story of Troy.
I am looking forward to learning about the Spartans and Athens. They are from two different parts of the spectrum and I am intrigued by both of them and their cultures.

My biggest fear in AP Euro is not understanding and getting behind on my work. I hope to gain better reading and writing skills at a higher level, and also learn about how we became who we are today by learning about the past. I don’t know much about European History but I am excited to learn. I had heard of the Black Death and know just a little about the Greek gods. I think learning about the struggles and the stories from the past will make this class be very interesting to me!

My fears about AP Euro this year is not understanding any of the stuff we will go over in class, while everybody else knows it all. I also fear that I will fall behind and not be able to catch back up without getting bad grades. I hope that I will not only pass and get college credit, but to understand what we will be going over in class. I hope to gain further knowledge of European history and their culture. I am not very familiar with European history, besides the basics. Like, names of important people and important events that occurred. I also know a little about the Greek Gods and Goddesses. I am looking forward to learning about France and England the most because I have always wanted to go there. I am also looking forward to learning about Greek Gods and Goddesses more in depth because they are such interesting figures in Greek history.

1.My biggest fears about AP European History include falling behind academically and getting behind on assignments. This class is going to challenge me but I am looking forward to becoming a better student/learner(And also maintain a high letter grade as well).
2. By the end of this year I would like to have a better understanding of European culture, which would therefore help me better understand American culture. I want to be able to put all the puzzle pieces together.
3. In 6th grade I learned a little about Mesopotamia and some Greek Gods/Goddesses.
4. This year I just want to learn new things. I want to learn about topics or events I havent ever heard of. Stories are my favorite though, I find them the most interesting.

My biggest fears about AP European History consist of falling behind academically. Academics are a big deal to me personally. The class will be a challenge for me, but I am hoping it all pays off in the end. Through this course I am hoping to gain more knowledge about how European History affected our world today. I know very little about the history of Europe and I am looking forward to learning more about it. I am familiar with the Bubonic Plague and I know a little bit of history on the Greek gods. There is no specific topic I want to learn about, I simply want to learn more about European History. The drama and war stories have intrigued me most thus far.

My fears of AP Euro is that I won't meet the standards of my other classmates when it comes to writing or reading skills. I'm afraid that I fall behind in that catagory. I hope I become a better writer, reader, and organizer throughout this year. I'm familiar with the renaissance but I'd like to know more about history has made us what we are today!

My main fears or concerns for A.P Euro is being overwhelmed with homework from this course and others. What I do hope to have happen in this class however is to learn more on the aspects of Europe and its history and to get college credit of course. I do know a tiny bit on the Eurasian area, mostly Russia in the 20th century. I am really looking forward to learning about the World Wars, the factions involved in the war, passive or not, and many of the battles that took place and shaped the outcome of the war.

My fear in AP European History is simply just not getting as much knowlege out of the class as I hope to get. Whenever i put a large amount of time into anything, I like to get something out of it. I hope to gain a knowlege of stories and occurences in Europe that i had never heard before. Id like to say that i am familiar with some Greek Mythology and Roman history, but most of that knowlege probably comes from Percy Jackson or Assassins Creed. Specefically I am looking forward to learning about the Protestant Reformation, because that affects how I spend my Sundays.

My biggest fear for AP Euro is that I will not be able to catch up on all that I missed. I hope to learn more about Europe and its history because I am not very familiar with it. I know a little about the Black Death and the fall of Rome. I look forward to learning about the Greeks and their culture, I find them fascinating.

My biggest fear in AP euro is that with all this knowledge that we are taking in that I won't remember half of it when the school year ends. That and if I do remember it that I won't be able to use it later on in the future but if I could use it in the future that it will come in handy in college or something like that

My fear for AP Euro is to fall behind in the class, I'm also afraid that the class will be too much for me to take in. I want to better understand the history of my european descendants. I have became very familiar with the Greek empire at it's best (with the poleis.) I'm looking forward to all the fun things I'll learn in the class, and getting to know what life was like for my ancestors.

My fears are to become overwhelmed by multiple poor performances as far as actual school work as well as tests and such. I am hoping to learn a lot about early Europe as well as some exciting stories. I hope to gain knowledge about early Europe, and also expand my poor vocabulary. I am familiar with no European History, aside of what we have gone over in class so far. I am specifically excited to learn about anything MS. Osborn is willing to teach me, due to an amazing reputation she has as a teacher. - Brett Wright
